NYE, Niagara Falls & Regal Tent!

NYE, Niagara Falls & Regal Tent!

It may have been one of the coldest New Year’s Eves in recent history (hello -27 degrees!), but that didn’t stop more than 10,000 visitors from attending CBC’s free concert in Niagara Falls’ Queen Victoria Park this past Sunday night. Hosted by Rick Mercer, the concert line up kicked off at 8pm with guests Jess Moskaluke, emerging country stars James Barker Band, Toronto-raised R&B artist Jessie Reyez, multi-platinum-selling Montreal-bred band Simple Plan and Juno Award-winning Vancouver-based band Marianas Trench.

Regal Tent was contacted by Insight to create a broadcast centre and concert space for CBC’s live event, and we were thrilled to rise to the challenge! We spent two days leading up to New Year’s Eve building a 30′ x 48′ x 10′ black tent complete with red carpet, black railing, stairs and a stage to house the festivities. There were also several smaller black tents erected adjacent to the larger tent, all weighted down with concrete weights so that the ground underneath remained undisturbed. Putting up tents in freezing cold temperatures is something our experienced and talented crew are no stranger to, and they worked through the subzero conditions like consummate professionals, ensuring everything was ready to go for the live celebrations on New Year’s Eve!

A live New Year’s Eve celebration in Niagara Falls is very nostalgic for many, including Rick Mercer who remembers watching the festivities from the Falls as a child. He was thrilled to be a part of this year’s return to the Falls, and at Regal we’re excited about the prospect of participating in a renewed Canadian tradition for many years to come! We’d love to help you create your perfect event, regardless of time of year or temperature!
