NHL All-Star Game Magic!

NHL All-Star Game Magic!

The National Hockey League All-Star Game is an exhibition ice hockey game that is traditionally held during the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL), with many of the League’s star players playing against each other. These games began in the late 1940s, and are traditionally held in a different city every year. Regal Tent was fortunate enough to be commissioned by Kreate Inc. to help create a space for the 2009 NHL All-Star Game festivities in Montreal, QC and as can be expected with a January installation schedule in Eastern Canada, this was no easy task!

The installation of the two tents was next to the Bell Centre in downtown Montreal, which would host the actual hockey game. We were to build two tents – one 40m x 90m x 5m Clearspan tent that would have a mix of black and white roof and walls, and boast a clear gable that would have the NHL logo projected onto its surface, and a 30m x 45m x 4m Clearspan tent that would have white roofs and walls. Both tents would boast multi-level floors built with our Bil-jax flooring, and the intention was to have all this installed and ready to go in a 10 day period.

True to form, Mother Nature was not cooperative with our well-intentioned installation plans and brought days of -30 degree Celsius weather for the entire duration of our tent erection as well as a blizzard during our removal process! Luckily, our amazing crew was working overtime without complaint (albeit with some frozen fingers and toes involved!). The only people on site who didn’t seem to mind the subzero temperatures seemed to be the company creating the ice sculptures for the event!
