The NBA All-Star Game is a basketball exhibition game hosted every February by the National Basketball Association, matching a mix of the league’s star players, who are drafted by the two players with the most votes. Each team consists of 12 players, making it 24 in total. The game is the featured event of NBA All-Star Weekend, which is a three-day event running Friday through Sunday. The All-Star game was first staged at the Boston Garden on March 2, 1951, and 2016 marked it’s first appearance in Toronto. Regal Tent was commissioned to create an entertainment space for this action-packed weekend, which was held February 12-14th of that year.
The tent was installed in Roundhouse Park which is a 17 acre park in Downtown Toronto formerly known as the Railway Lands. The main tent was a 131′ x 230′ x 25′ Clearspan tent that would host a myriad of high end parties and celebrations throughout the entertainment-packed weekend. This also included a 33′ x 131′ mezzanine and two sets of stairs, creating a two storey venue perfectly suited for all the celebrity VIPs that would be attending the festivities! There were also ancillary tents for catering and washrooms, 24 sets of double doors, a fire alarm system, and a 46′ x 92′ area of flooring!
Our installation schedule was jam-packed and required 12-16 Regal crew members over the span of 14 days to complete the job! A tent of this magnitude with all its moving parts needs an incredibly skilled and experienced crew to erect, and we are lucky enough to have the best of the best working at Regal. The installation and subsequent removal went off without a hitch, and our client was ready to entertain the masses right on schedule!
Regal Tent is the only supplier of a double decker tent in Canada, and as you can see from the photos below, it truly adds a whole new level of luxury to any event.
